Is it legal to use a used windshield? I was under the impression that it was a bit of a gray area.
I’m not sure it’s a gray area, we’ve been doing it for 30 years. Is it wise? Depends. Recently tried one from a wrecked plane and it broke on first pressure cycle in the hangar. Expensive lesson. And there’s a couple guys selling windshields that have known history and/or fraudulent history. Otherwise we have had good luck but it’s not something that I would recommend for someone in the field who does not have experience fitting these windshields that’s for sure.

I have been using the starlink like Thomas. In the 690A, getting about 50 mbs with the unit on top of the copilot glareshield powered by this battery. It’s way better than expected given most heated glass windshield operators can’t get it to work.

You shouldn’t need an aviation plan unless you exceed 391kts. I’m not sure of the cost, it’s my brother’s Starlink, but it’s not much at all. Nothing like the aviation packages.

Yes, I put a mini on the glare shield facing out the windshield and was able to get it to work. It was pretty finicky about the position. Wouldn’t work in a certain spot on the glare shield, then moved it a couple of inches and then magic! My wife was able to instagram at 30k so she was happy!
I tried to get it to work out of side windows but could never get it to connect.
