Here are a couple videos I recorded while removing and installing new bungee chords on the main gear tonight.

The screw driver method isn’t the best as it will slip and it will scratch. A better method is once the upper roller is installed with the new bungee; use a 1/4” or 3/8” rope. Make a loop and loop it through the bungee then pull....pull hard and have a bar through the rope so you can use both hands. Did I mention pull hard. You can maneuver the bungee onto the the lower roller and the rope can slip out afterwards.

Just had them changed on mine, too. Always wondered how it's done.

Thanks, good info.  How long is the expected life?  I am not sure on how to know they are worn out.  Do they need replacing when you can squeeze them together and they touch.

On the piston models it's replace each annual. I think that's good practice, even if you're on an hourly program on the turbines. They're cheap anyway and quick to change.

We had a discussion about the bungees at my last recurrent. If they're dry and not too squishy, they should be okay. Last time I had one changed, only one was bad but we changed both. I have the other one in my baggage compartment, just in case.

I have always changed mine (all 4) every year. They are just a big o-ring with nylon webbing around it and exposed to ALL the elements ALL the time.
I have no idea what a weak or worn out one would feel like.
