Outstanding 980 coming to market

Iím thrilled to bring another great Commander to market. This is a sneak peek.

The plane is gorgeous in and out with only 150 SMOH and a well equipped digital panel. Paint, interior, and avionics by Byerly Aviation.  RVSM. Hangared and operated in the UK by itís current owner, a true gentleman and aircraft enthusiast who operates planes from taildraggers to the latest and greatest CJ.

We plan to offer the aircraft for $1,100,000.  It just landed at KPIA.

Looks very pretty. Did not know you could RSVM 980's.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

Adam, you can RVSM an 840 or 980, but very few people do because it's expensive and only gets you three flight levels-- 290, 300, and 310-- and the cabin is already at 10,500' or so at 280, so it's not that useful. I believe at FL310, the cabin is above 12,500.

Bruce- just cause I want to learn more.
Currently I see x2 980's for sale on Controller (each with really low TT's!!!)
N980HB and N25TN, yet one is approx 400K more expensive.  Other than engine run out and a mouse paint job, any specific reasons for the difference?

One thing which has really impressed me about Commanders during my ownership is how little they actually depreciate. My airplane's depreciation has been almost entirely due to time on the engines and general wear and tear.

My sense is that if it had the same times and condition as it had when I bought it in 2011, it would be worth about the same money. Of course, I've flown it 750 hours since then, so no surprise that it's worth a bit less.

Where to start on that question? At the radome?  Beyond engines, thereís pedigree, mx status, equipment, times, cosmetics, quality of work, and the size of the squawk list to name a few.  I flew this 980 for the first time in many years to a 300 and 1/2 approach into DAY the other day and could only appreciate how nice everything worked! The two advertised 980ís are like apples and oranges.

Don - it's good times on the aircraft market again. Just less than 4 years ago when I surveyed the TC market, it was seriously down. Regularly saw 690B's in the $300K region and Jetprops in the $500K region. So it's probably just timing and when you look.

It's so hard to say. There is a -5 840 on the market asking $495k with time left on the engines... it's an old Executive Flight airplane, high time and been on and off the market for years, but still seems pretty cheap to me.

That does seem cheap. Does it have LR tanks?

I sometime think an upgrade to a -5 840 would be a good move and within the realm of what I could afford. Certainly would be all I'd ever need. But it takes so much time and energy, as you know, to bring an aircraft up to the way you want it and we only have so may years left of flying. So I think the right move would be to wait until I could afford a -10 model - that's a forever kind of plane. With a -5 model you'd always be hankerin' for those extra 30kts, right?  ;)

I don't know about the fuel tanks. Even without them, 2800 pounds is a lot of fuel.
