Interesting video on a MU-2

I know it's not a TC but I think you can call the MU-2 a half-sibling of the TC, also I know Adam likes MU-2s.

I saw that guy on buying jets.  They showed him a phenom 300 and the MU-2????

Seems like a unusual choice.  If you have the cash you would not be looking at a MU-2.  Made up TV.

I love seeing the large number of views that video is getting.  Good for GA

Lots of reasons a TC is better than a MU-2.

Safety is the big one,  for some people  the fact it requires the equivalent of a type rating ride every year is another.

I like the MU-2's, but I like TC's better. The MU-2's have had too many incidents over the years. I think they're very well built, probably sturdier than the TC, but that stubby wing seems to present problems with lack of proficiency. The TC is more forgiving. But a nice video! Nice to some young pilots using them like they were intended!  ;D

Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

Nice to see the video. The MU-2 is a fine airplane if you stay solidly within it's limitations, and you fly it per the book. No exceptions. The Commander is much more forgiving, operates from shorter runways, and still gives you more or less the same performance and fuel burn.

I sure wouldn't mind the MU-2's smaller wingspan and shorter length when I try to shoehorn mine into my small T-hangar! It's so tight, that if I ever upgraded to any of the longer wing models with the wing plug (every model after the 681), I'd have to find a new hangar or somehow modify this one structurally..

That like telling me there is no Santa Claus!!!!

I watched that show with my wife.   The show seem to try and show people comparably priced airplanes.

It was a fun way to show the wife and kids other aircraft.  They also talked a little about operating costs which was helpful.

This one with the MU-2 even my wife asked why they had a high dollar jet against a a cheap prop.

He also spouts quite a bit of info about the MU-2 that's not quite correct.

For instance, he says that they selected the engines first, then designed the plane. Not true. What is correct is that Mitsubishi decided that they would use turboprop engines from the start for the MU-2 (all other twin turbines at the time were piston airframe upgrades.)  MU-2s used French turboprop engines before they switched to the TPE-331.

Yep, they had Astazou's originally.
