690A STC for gross weight increase?
« on: March 22, 2020, 11:34:51 pm »
This article:

https://flightlevelsonline.com/2019/winter-2019/looking-back-model-690a-more-useful-load-more-altitude/

mentions an STC for increasing the gross weight of 690As. It's really specific, with a new GW (11,000 lbs) and an STC number (10173SE.)

However, I can't find *any* STC with a number even vaguely similar to that number, nor can I find an STC for TC 2A4 that mentions "gross weight."

Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

Found it! STC SA01073SE.

It's a ramp weight increase for two specific serial numbers of 690A used for survey in Alaska. Only one is still flying.

"Data pertaining to this modification are considered inadequate for duplication in additional aircraft."

The STC holder has another STC that applies to more aircraft (690A, B and C models), as long as you're doing F&W surveys.

Look at 14 CFR 91.323-- I think that is what those STCs are implementing.

Yep, figured. The first STC didn't restrict it to Alaska, the second one did.
