Wild Goose Chase
« on: April 23, 2020, 05:11:34 pm »
Short story long - my son's girlfriend is looking for her grandfathers old 500B Commander - N9135N.  It was last seen 6 months ago flying near Springfield MO.  Any chances you guys know of this aircraft, or have seen it.

Thanks,

Kent

Are you referring to the flightaware track? Because those are quite unreliable for this sort of thing, and the FAA shows it was deregistered in 2018...

Yes I was referring to the FlightAware Track.  Darn.  Well, if it was de-registered does that mean it was parted out?

I wouldn't bother tracking down the flightaware data.  I have a similar one-minute "flight" logged for my plane on flightaware during a time when I'm quite certain it was locked in my hangar on the ground.

I did see that it lived in Glendale Arizona before it was de-registered.  I thought you guys knew everything.  ??

That’s a tough one. Have you tried contacting the last owner or calling the Glendale airport.  I think John Phoenix operates a Mx/FBO there.  I can text you his number ...

Thanks Bruce,

I did call the FBO, no memory of said aircraft.  I tried to call the owner.  I think possibly deceased.  Not sure where to go.  It is not that important.  Just a little fun.  I thought someone on the forum might know someone.

Someone somewhere knows something - that’s for sure  ;D

Put that Google fu to work!  You could order the 337’s from the FAA and track down the last one - that might give you a lead?

Thank You Bruce!

I found the airplane!  It is located in a hangar at Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix.  I actually talked to the owner.  That was very fun.

Much obliged!  =;-)

Tell us more! Is it flyable? Being parted out? What is the story?

Kent - my pleasure.  It’s always fun to track one down and gather a glimpse of the story they tell about the years and travels. Unfortunately sounds like yet another case of an owner letting a plane turn to dust and beer cans rather than letting the plane be enjoyed by another owner.  We are seeing this on turbines now too.
