Update
« on: May 27, 2020, 03:15:01 pm »
Good day to my fellow Commander owners. Here is an update on my project. In 2 weeks time I was able to refinish the Yoke and Helm, Strip and repaint, replace all wind screens and almost completed the install of the Avionics. All done by one Guy. The 14 hour days almost killed me but it is will worth it.

Round nacelle and exhaust out of the back of them. Straight 500 maybe?

Crickey Mate!!!!!

I CANNOT believe the progress you have made!!!  You are doing an unbelievable job!  Fast, and high quality!  I thought the aircraft was in Miami.  Are those hangar heaters for helping to cure the paint faster?

Great Job!!!!!  The power quadrant looks phenomenal.  I also like the paint scheme.  Very clean and uncomplicated.

So my 680FP sat outside for about 8 months while I built my new hanger.  Nothing really got hurt much but the pilot side yoke looks like it was stored underwater, I guess from the humidity but not sure as there is no other sign of water damage.  What did you do to strip down and what did you use to repaint?

I wasn't sure if powder coating would stick to the yokes.

Thanks,

Glenn

I sanded and Stripped with PPG stripper. I used Nason Epoxy primer and Nason Full Thane top coat.

Thanks, I have mine out and stripped and ready to start painting.  I think I'm going to bondo a few small holes to smooth things out and then start painting it up.

I wish I had someone like you work on my plane! She'd been ready 4 years ago!  ::)
