flyer in the mail today for an 840
« on: July 17, 2020, 12:00:42 pm »
Just got this in the mail.  Could be a good deal for someone here looking for an 840.  I have seen this plane on flightaware a bit over the last year, appears to be a nice machine?
Wonder what it will go for at the auction?
Bruce you got this.

Here's the link:

https://www.proxibid.com/Vehicles-Marine-Aviation/Air/1981-GULFSTREAM-AERO-COMMANDER-690-C-N885LV/lotInformation/55187332

I heard they put on the MT props because the people in the back thought it was too loud (even with the A20s.) They people in the back must have some serious pull with the state budget!

OK Adam... this might be the one to pony up for...

Actually it looks to have just about every upgrade (LED lighting in and out panel engines etc) not to mention those awesome looking MT's.

N777LV would be worth a few grand just by it's self if you wanted to sell it off replace with your own "N" number.

Adam get your banker on speed dial for this one 8)

Sorry Adam... guess they are keeping the "N" number

Wow, looks like a great 840! Everything you would want, and a camera door as a bonus.

I bet some government or aerial work operator will snap that thing up, but you never know. Is there a reserve on the auction?

Is there a reserve on the auction?
My reading of the terms & conditions didn't find any mention of a reserve.

I heard about this one last week when I was at Minden and considered it for a wee bit. It'll be a bargain, but it's not exactly what I'm looking for. I hope I don't regret not bidding on it. It might be a steal!

This is odd - look at this FAA entry for N777LV:

This airplane was never N777LV... it was N777NV. However, N777LV is apparently reserved, and has been for a long time.

I had N980JC reserved for a while, before I decided I didn't want to change my N-number.

They changed the tail number in April of this year from N777NV to the current one.  I guess that they knew before then that the state was going to sell it and wanted to hold onto the number so they put it in reserve.

It looks like the state has done a good job caring for it since 1997.

In the interest of avoiding the airlines, I took an Aerostar on trade as a runner, painted it, and am, for some reason, looking forward to the trip to to inspect the 840.  But can you believe the buyer’s premium? Even with a buyer onsite with me, I suspect auction fever will take over and I will get a call later to clean things up.  ;)

I would think if you are looking for a bargain, go elsewhere. If you want a well-maintained, well-equipped camera door 840, you're going to have to pay up for it.

Be interesting to see where this lands.

I think this is a $700-750K plane, roughly. Do you guys agree?
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

You know as Bruce pointed out the buyer's premium (13%) is pretty serious... so I am thinking that it will sell on the low side unless there is a couple of bidders that know and want the plane and are willing to bid it on the high side just because they can.

I think the actual value is around $650K

My crystal ball says $600K on the low side or $900K if the auction frenzzzzzy gets crazy. Regardless this will be a fun one to watch.

What does everyone else think it will sell for????

I think you guys are right on. With an auction, you always have to take into account the fees, not just the hammer price.

Do people get that worked up over these sort of auctions? I buy cars occasionally on bringatrailer.com and you can sometimes see some madness there, but I would think this sort of auction would have far fewer bidders.

Put me down for $10 on the $540k square. (Buyer will pay $610k after the premium.)

Edited, but before auction started.

Only at $170k so far. Does this auction system allow last minute sniping bids?

And, I admit to not looking closely-- is this a reserve auction?

When the auction gets down to the end, any bid will reset the end-of-auction clock. It's just like a live auctioneer saying "Anyone else? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Going once, going twice..."
This auction has a two-minute addition for each bid.

There is no reserve.
