Foreflight.
Here's a typical series of questions that are trivial to answer on ForeFlight but hard on FltPln.com:
Let's say I'm going from VT to FL and I need one fuel stop (no, it's not a Turbo Commander.) I can fuel just about anywhere that's 1/2 way, from Eastern KY/TN to eastern VA/NC.
What's the overall weather look like? If there's a front coming through, when does it pass? (prog charts)
Based on predicted winds aloft, about how far south will my halfway stop be? (tap a potential waypoint on the graphical map, look at the route section up above, move the waypoint until the two halves are equal.)
What area has the cheapest fuel? (100LL prices superimposed on map)
Is the area likely to be IMC or VMC? (graphical ceiling & vis forecasts)
How far away is my legal alternate going to be? (ceiling & vis forecasts)
While I'm considering airports, what have others said about speed of service? (comments section in the FBO tab)
What MOAs, TFRs and restricted areas will I have to thread through? (graphical zoom & pan map, tap on areas for hours of operation)
If I sidestep just a little, is there a V or J airway I can get on that goes all the way? (This may or may not be useful on the east coast...)
If I sidestep left or right by 100nm or more, will I get better winds or avoid a predicted convective sigmet? (graphical winds aloft forecasts, forecast sigmets on main map)
etc, etc, etc.
Yes, fltplan has a better selection of "others on this route have filed..." for larger origins and destinations but I'm often going from East BF to West BF, and the routes aren't well established in the flight levels.
