XC-ZCL Gear Up

Hate to see that! The article indicates they had a gear problem, and given that the props are feathered, they probably did that before touching down, thus saving the engines. Beautiful 1000, too! The good news is, that's all fixable.

I wonder what the gear problem was?

It's interesting, looking at the picture... flaps are up, props are feathered, no sign of any gear doors or anything. Curious. I wonder if they really had a problem, or they forgot to put it down?

That’s a bit of a puzzle.  What would prevent all the gear from extending.  Even the nose gear doors appear completely closed?

Somehow he did a nice job of keeping it on the Ctr line?

It is possible that maybe one main gear did not lock down or the bungies may have weakened and not getting three green the pilot may have decided to keep all the gear "up".

Considering it is one of the "official" fleet aircraft of the Mexican Government, details might be difficult to come by.

Or maybe they just forgot to put it down, especially if they were landing no flaps for some reason.

Blame it on my bad memory, but I thought the props don't touch the ground on the Commander.  Could the pilot have landed with the engines running - and not hurt the engines?

By the way.  Look under General Discussion "Lockheed 12a Purchase" Page 2.  I painted a painting, and I wanted you'all to see it.

Kent, I think you might be right. And, as a friend of mine pointed out, pilots don't usually bother with the start locks in such situations.

Apparently as long as the wings are kept perfectly level, the props shouldn't impact the ground.

Probably should have posted my pic of this not under "vintage photos" section :D.  Was wondering the same...
So the props could not touch if front gear was down is what I am reading?

Beautiful aircraft, hope she can be put back together quick.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

I believe all three mains and nose can be up, just like in the picture, and th props don't touch.
