Flight aware

I tend to randomly check AC95 and AC90 on flightaware just to see how many turbo commanders are still in the air.
While I realize the commander is a good platform for aerial photography, seems like every 690 I see is doing a million circles in pattern.   Could that all be for photos?

Looks like a Fire Bomber Air Attack profile. These airplanes are very popular with aerial fire fighters because of the great visibility from the cockpit

As it was explained to me, the contracts for air attack are written in such a way that they basically require a Turbo Commander.

I was told that operators who had existing contracts with piston commanders were “grandfathered” in, but most if not all new contracts were written for turbo prop aircraft,

As I understand it, it requires (at least in some cases) a high wing turboprop.
