New 695A Owner
« on: September 03, 2021, 12:55:10 am »
With tremendous help from Jim Worrell and the team at ECA, N79PH is home in Oregon.

I have more work in front of me, initial training with York Aviation and a complete panel overhaul in October, but this well known 1000 is being restored.

I am based at Grants Pass, OR (3S8).

ECA did an extensive prebuy and we had an appropriately long list of items to address.

Engines both had fresh HSIs and all SBs for 7000hr TBO complied with. The engine shop at ECA is incredible.

Airframe had pressurization issues, but I couldn't be happier with max diff easily obtained after all the work done.

There was some clean up on the structure/sheetmetal after the repair from its gear up in CA, but I am confident that I have a solid ship now.

The panel is getting the full Garmin treatment. Dual G600TXIs, Dual GTN 750s, Dual GI-275 backups, GTX345/335, GMA35c, GWX 75 and a GTR 225 third comm. Lastly doing the 2100 to 3100 AP upgrade.

Very excited.

Congrats! Beautiful 1000!

Is this the one that veered off on dirt strip a few years back when the gear collapsed?

Yes sir. Spent a good amount of time in Bishop, then repaired in Ogden. I visited ECA about a day or so after it got to Indy.

Adam I have followed you on YT for years. I was at JC when you flew your TC in and was in awe!

Thanks for the warm welcome.

If you come up to Hillsboro, let me know! I haven't been to Grant's Pass in quite a while, although I do get in to Medford or Ashland a few times every year.

Absolutely Don. I plan on doing me best to document the process.

Looking forward to being part of the TC family.

It would be great to see some photos of your interior and panel.

How is the new AP working?  My original AP is getting old!

Steve, I still have the old panel. The 2100 works well, but I assume the 3100 will be much smoother.

I was the first person to install the 3100 in an Aerostar (I did all the STC testing flights) and I can say with confidence is a great AP.

At Simcom as I had training lined up, but unfortunately the instructor got sick and canceled his schedule. I am still hoping to fly with them once he gets people back lined up.

I am expecting to take the plane down in mid to late November for the panel install. I will document the process.

Attached is the current panel and the PDF of the new panel layout.

That new panel is going to be very clean.  I like it.
Where are you taking it, Naples?

Do you know if you need the txi screens in order to get Vnav capability or is a g600 ok with the 3100?

Baker Avionics on my home field of 3S8.

Greg Baker worked at Aero Air and has done many Commander Panels including the original Meggitt.

It is my understanding that the TXI is require for VNAV capability. That was the case in my Aerostar and had to upgrade to a Txi from my legacy G600 and the 3100 control head has to be upgraded to software version 1.4.

Being able to get it done at your home field is a big advantage.

I thought that might be the case with the Vnav capability.  I am happy with my G600 and with the Vpath indicator when on a Sid or star following the constraints is not hard. Having the AP take away the tweaking of VS would be nice but not a huge deal.

What other advantages are there to upgrading to a TXI screen.  I have not really looked into it.

It looks a lot cooler!!

No, TXi is NOT required for VNAV. 1.4 on the 3100 is, however.

That said, if you are upgrading your panel now, I can't imagine why you wouldn't go with the TXi.

Are you getting rid of the Magic engine display?

Can you keep Meggit engine display if you change the rest? Are they standalone and not interconnected?
