Leak 690B - Hose
« on: September 28, 2021, 05:00:09 pm »
I have heard that there is always a bit of a Jet A smell in the baggage area. But on my 690B it was very strong. A couple of times the bag seems have absorbed fuel. Finally this weekend one of the bags seemed like it really got Jet A on it. So took it in to Byerly in Peoria. Ryan took a look and said when the pump is turned on there is a drip and it coming from the hose that comes from the left wing. Seems like it was leaking and got worse over some time. Now waiting for the hose to be sent and to get it replaced. I would imagine other folks have faced this issue as well. Just wondering.

My baggage area smells like fuel, too.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

I have heard that it can smell like Jet A but they found a leak and said the carpet was soaked. So I am going to get the fuel hose from the left tank as well as the carpet in the baggage replaced.

It shouldn’t smell like fuel, but the tricky part is what you found out— even with the leak fixed, the carpet might still smell due to old leaks.

$ 1450 to Replace all the fuel soaked panels and carpet Plus $ 2500 I believe for the left hose. Not sure if that includes labor for replacing the hose.
