Got this from Aeromech yesterday:

Hi Sean,

Good to hear from you. We are in the process of amending our STC to include the G600 TXi system, this is an active project of ours. I’ll check with our program manager about the completion date and will get back to you as soon as I can.

This is great news.

Your timing is good. We have spent quite a bit of time with them trying to get this off the ground.  I believe it will happen in a few months.  TXI and 3100 AP are likely going to be required unless you have an APS 65 and I’m pushing for that to be included. We have multiple full panels going on and 8 3100’s on order so please let me know how we can help you. I’ve also volunteered my plane for EIDS which I believe should be forthcoming. We can make it work in about 2 weeks but there are other forces at play.  But there’s really no reason it can’t be available this year.  Please send me an email with your support and I’ll keep Garmin and associated parties aware of the interest on both of the above bruce@naplesjetcenter.com

Bruce, is it just going to be the TXi or will the legacy G600 be included as well?

Don, in the interest of not making the engineer’s heads explode, I would expect TXi only.  Every different configuration is a bunch of work so, while my opinion is preliminary, I believe new equipment is the way to go. We completed the first legacy G600 install in a Commander 16 years ago. Like the G1000, I doubt it’s worth the effort to include unless it’s easy to engineer.

Incidentally, those all appear to be TXi part numbers, which is as expected.

So what’s the cost to do so on a 900 i have the 3100 and all the hardware dual G600txi, 345/355, 750TXI/650txi. And i had RVSM with the Meggets but lost it going to the G600txi.

It will be interesting to find out. I would guess with your configuration, it won't be too bad at all. Probably just the enablement, which of course will seem crazy expensive for what is effectively a license, but much cheaper than redoing your entire panel.

Does that STC require dual 600TXis? It reads like it does?

For the pilots of Commanders with the STEC-3100, what has been your experience with the IAS mode? In particular, how does the autopilot behave when you engage the IAS mode when the reference speed is, for example, 15 kts slower than current speed? If I ever engage the IAS mode in this type of situation, the aircraft pitches up aggressively to the programmed speed. I’ve had to make it a standard practice to match  the speeds before engaging the IAS mode to keep from scaring the passengers. Is this normal? When engaging in VS mode, the pitch commands are as smooth as could be.

Yes, I would say that is pretty typical for the 3100. I use IAS quite a bit, and I always make sure that it's synched on what the airplane is already doing before I engage it.

I would say that's a good rule of thumb for pretty much any autopilot, honestly. Same goes for VS.

Thanks for the reply! I meant to post this under the existing S-TEC thread so my apologies for that. I'm new to the forum, the Commander, and S-TEC autopilots  ;D

Feel free if you have any other questions! My airplane was the certification airplane for the 3100 in the Commanders, so I have lots of experience with it.
