That is what I thought. I wonder how many Turbo Commanders there are in Southern Africa?

I have to say, Namibia looks like a beautiful country, and a Turbo Commander would be a great way to see it.

Yep... I had the same thought as you and yesterday did a flight plan to see what it would take to get there. Country seems to be stable. So maybe after covid (if there ever is an after) most likely a fun trip.

Also... it seems Desert Air has at least three Commanders (1000, 690B, 690C). I know that many of the Govt. agencies in Africa are not up to date but this serial number in this posting, is still showing an active registration in Germany and not currently shown in Namibia, but clearly showing on the wing in the photo.

As for how many Commanders are in Africa... I am not sure as I can find just 27 in the countries that have online access to the registered aircraft and who knows how many of those are still flying or even exist.
Our friend Barry in the UK might have a better idea on that.

I think Namibia, Botswana, and South Africa are all pretty stable and doing okay. South Africa probably the worst of the three, but in Africa terms all are doing pretty well.

I wonder how much it would cost to bring it back to the US? I'm thinking it must be worth more in place, than brought back here?

What price are you asking, Marius?
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.
