My bladder showed up (yay!) and it was missing a vent (boo!), so it has to go back to Twin and/or the vendor.

Finally got my 980 back, and so far everything seems good! It has been a long time, far too long...

Nothing like having an "old" friend back in the hangar!

I know! The 690A I've been flying lately now needs a bladder as well, but guess what? They are in stock!

So I was thinking about Don's "missing fuel" - and I realized that for at least half the planes I've owned (including the current two) I didn't know the REAL capacity.

I know what the book says, but I never drained them and refilled them. The current two are both bladder systems, which means they're much more likely to have lower capacity than wet wings.

How many of you have drained and refilled all of your tanks to find your real capacity? Who knows, on that last flight where I landed with an hour of fuel - maybe it was only 10 minutes.

The Jetprops (840/980/900/1000) require a fuel system calibration every, 5 years? Something like that. And to do that requires draining and completely refilling the tanks, checking the fuel gauges every 100 pounds. Or maybe even every 50 pounds.
