It looks like we’ll have to pay for an stc ($500-1000) and pay a markup (initially maybe not so much with widespread use) of 10% at the pump.
The real question of how well it replaces 100ll can only be answered with a decade of field use and a million operating hours. It seems like there is always an unwanted side affect when you change something in an airplane. George Braly is claiming that maintenance costs and oil change intervals would be lowered by removing the lead. He is also saying the detonation resistance of the new fuel is not only better than 100ll, it exceeds that of the old 115/145 octane.
