Bahamas

So it looks like we will go to Stella Maris early next year. Are there any good fly-in lunch spots around there? It might be nice to fly to another island at least one day while we are there.

I always got a cruising permit but never used it because there wasn’t much reason to leave cape Santa Maria.  I still want to visit Hawks Nest on Cat and also Fernandez bay village both with adjacent airports.

Why not give Staniel Cay a try, short runway, but little bar on the island could be fun for a day trip.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have never gotten a cruising permit, but I haven't landed there since, I think, 2014... is that something new?

Staniel is a nice spot and nice runway.  I think the cruising permit has been around for a long time but probably not everyone pays attention as it really doesn’t matter.  Kind of like clearing customs outbound. No one cares if you don’t do it. Therefore, it’s often skipped. Bring some extra Krispy Kreme and/or a couple steaks for best results in the out islands.

I think we might try to stop in to Staniel for a day trip, actually. We'll be at Cape Santa Maria.

When are you going? The cape is our favorite spot.

We are going December 26 - January 1. Looking forward to it!

Flying down from Massachusetts to FLL, and then across. Coming back through Orlando (I have an overflight permit).

I saw you as I was taxiing out. Just a quick test flight that day-- I had to get a new GTN 750 because my old one developed an internal issue. Heading east soon, though.

Happy Holidays to all, safe flying.

Like that distance Donv, halfway there!!  These days, unfortuantely we are limited by passenger comfort not by range of the 980 :) :) :)

Easy flight across the country, aside from the fact that the winds weren't very helpful. First leg of the trip done.

They certainly care about the cruising permit in Nassau! I had to run up there to pick up some family members who had an airline fiasco, and they insisted on taking it and copying it and stamping it (again), etc!
