Current value of a flying 560A in decent condition?
« on: October 29, 2024, 01:03:21 pm »
I have the Adam bug and have found a 560A that is available at what I think is a significant discount. It needs some work, but not much. No, it's not the KTNP 520. I'll save that one for later.

What do y'all consider the rough value of an in-annual 560A with 500 hr GO-480s, ADS-B, a GPS, KX-155s, no autopilot, and recent prop AD completed to be?

( ) wouldn't take it for free
( ) $60k
( ) $100k
( ) $150k
( ) Stop buying old planes, you nimrod

It has the low compression 7.3:1 GO-480-D1As instead of the 8.7:1 GO-480-x1B6. It's approved for 80/87 avgas, if that makes any difference.

I'd go with $60k, assuming I wanted it.

Yeah, $60K.

I'm sure you're heard about the geared engines and how only a few places (Central Cylinder) has the gearbox parts still. That said, I love the geared engines on my 520 and the GO-480's are so common there is still a lot of parts. The geared engines have so much torque they get you going real good and if you look at all the numbers, it's always the geared ones that have the shortest takeoff.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

I'm looking at two - one's a 560A, one's a 560E. I'd rather have an E than an A, but the A is in nicer shape. Each has their plusses and minuses. Both are available for sub $30k, and if I can get them to the $5k or less range (basically a rounding error in total restoration costs) then I might go for one. I think I can get them back in the air for about $40-50k each, but I'm still diving deeper before I pull the trigger.

I'd like to be able to get out of it for near what I put into it, but I'm willing to lose a little in the long run if I can fly it for a few years.
