Well I’ve got a nice one in N9QY. I’d sell it. Just bought a 690B. Also have another Shrike with everything right for someone who wants to build the best one. One of the more knowledgeable guys took one look and said he’d take it to fix up and we plan to paint it, etc and I’ll find an home for it. I’d take less than I’ve spent for the plane and do it all over again.
And 2 500B’s available, a solid basic $190k plane with fresh compact props, good time engines, and an s-tec AP, GTN750, color JPI setup I did for myself. One has turbos and a front door. I’m inspecting that right now but has a Merlyn engine on it with no STC which I’m having trouble with u understanding.
Just did a pre-buy on a 500S with someone I trust. The plane has been for sale and has some nice features. But the owner didn’t like the $50-100k repairs to make it airworthy and right. There’s no free lunch unfortunately. Buyer didn’t want to budge. I work very hard to avoid those situations.
The reality is, a rare Shrike with everything is $600,000 and up. Then you get into cosmetics. That’s when you start with a $350-450,000 nice one. You’ll want to start with a decent airframe with a spar, freon, radome, boots or not, then comes the $200k panel, hoses, props, gear, an $85,000 engine here and there, and airframe work. Merlyn 300 HP would be cool as it’s apparently the current production version.
All worth it of course.
