Seems there is more cracking than I was aware of...

Yes.  I saw that, as well.  As you can imagine, almost every flying friend I have has sent me that link...  Did I read it correctly, that the concerns are primarily for 690s and 695s?  We who fly the 500B/S are not impacted (at least for now)?

I have seen that as well... I have my annual coming up, and it will be interesting to hear what they come up with.

Barry Lane told me they found cracks in the tail of the 840 he has been flying for years... I am not sure if this was in the same area as the one the Forest Service has been concerned about or not.

This is an issue I raised some time ago but was dismissed by some. I spent $71,000 to have the cracks on my 690A repaired. I posted exactly where the cracks were found, this fits exactly with the FAA findings. I hope most of you do not run into this problem, but it is something to be looked into at each annual inspection.
