I'm pretty sure they are the same. Is the part number different?

Sure it will fit if someone knows what they are doing. Functional and Legal, that is another story. There are part number considerations for sure. Need specifics, what is the plane and what is the windshield?

Is it legal to use a used windshield? I was under the impression that it was a bit of a gray area.

I’m not sure it’s a gray area, we’ve been doing it for 30 years. Is it wise? Depends.  Recently tried one from a wrecked plane and it broke on first pressure cycle in the hangar.  Expensive lesson. And there’s a couple guys selling windshields that have known history and/or fraudulent history.  Otherwise we have had good luck but it’s not something that I would recommend for someone in the field who does not have experience fitting these windshields that’s for sure.

I believe we are installing one now. ‘We have backups for customers in case of AOG.  They are slow to come in but so are King Airs and Boeings, it’s crazy in the windshield business.

Can you get windshields these days? I recall hearing $120k+ per side?

With new, used, or loaners, we haven’t had anyone grounded, for long anyway.  The new price is dumb, I will agree. And we’ve made our opinion clear.

You guys are doing loaners now? I remember when the position was that only a NEW windshield was appropriate!

I don’t even remember when new only was the case but regardless, we are just trying to keep them flying in case of a windshield back order.  We continue to work to keep them in stock.

Yes, the word from Ontic at the event was an 18 month waiting list for new ones!
