You know you are an optimist when….
« on: October 04, 2024, 07:36:35 pm »
I see the flying magazine aircraft sales site is advertising an 680F for ONLY $ 362,900. Zero time engines and a nice interior and paint but boat anchor radios. Just out of curiosity what would be a reasonable price for this airplane.

Asking for a friend ☺️

Not a lot of evidence that it has flown recently. If it doesn't have ADS-B, and I don't think it does, that's a pretty big clue.

Google will also show you some pictures of it from the last few years... not as pretty as in the ad.

That said, with a fresh annual, no squawks, zero time engines with no questions... might be worth $100k. But keep in mind the annual will probably be close to that number, unless I am missing something.

I have to say, though, that I would love to try flying a well sorted 680F (if one exists). I think they are one of the neatest airplanes Commander built, along with the 980 and the 695B.

At least the 680F has new engines.

The eternal optimist award goes to the guy selling the 560F with runout engines for $395,000. It's listed as a 560A but serial number shows it to be a 560F.

I'm pretty sure I've been talked out of a 680FL with IGSO engines, but if anyone wants to tackle one of these planes - I know where there are two zero-timed overhauled engines waiting in crates for less than the price of an overhaul each. If you buy the Ohio 680FL, that gives you a plane and four spare engines for less than the price of the 680F or the 560F (of course, both those prices are fiction.)

I wouldn't consider buying one without locking up more engines as future insurance.

I'm 98% sure it was Central Cylinder, years ago. They've been pickled & crated since. I have not seen the paperwork with my own eyes.
