Panel color?
« on: June 02, 2016, 04:09:53 pm »
Any thoughts on panel background color for a new glass panel?
Seems the 1000's that are recently done go with a nice earth tone....have also seen charcoal and some almost white baked finish.

I'm always partial to having the same tone on panel as you do on upholstery. Think it adds a cleaner look. In my case, I will either have an off-white or an earthier mocha/coffee-with-a-lot-of-cream look, probably. When I get around to that. Grey can also look good. Never personally cared that much for black panels.

The one in the pictures looks good to me.

Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

Mine is old-school gray, just like it came from the factory. Well, other than all the glass panel stuff...

When I redid the panel, the guys gave me a hard time about keeping the gray. However, I like it, and that's what counts. Also, the Jetprops have a subpanel for the pressurization controls, and if you leave that gray and redo the rest of it in some other color (which I've seen on several airplanes), it looks kind of bad.

Yeah, that picture looks perfect to me.  I like the lighter color panels as they look richer to me.

Much depends on YOU and what you see when looking at the panel... You need to get all the various colors you are considering on cardboard panels and put cutouts  of all the "glass" you are expecting to install and use.  Then look at each one and decide which works for your vision.  What looks totally awesome in a photo may not look so awesome doing a hard IFR to min landing at night.  Contrast to the "glass" bezels (black/grey) will shock and amaze you.. especially when you discover the one that works for YOU. That is why some manufactures make more than one color(black) bezels
