Fantastic 840 Opportunity
« on: June 01, 2017, 12:19:55 am »
For anyone considering a Commander, I want to offer my experience with 840JC over the last couple of days. I departed Philadelphia yesterday morning with stops in Parkersburg, WV, Ft. Smith Arkansas, and Odessa, TX along with the return flight.  Now as some of you know, and by some fortunate twist of fate, I have flown more than my share of Commanders.  I counted 86 840/980 airframes alone in my logbook the other day.   ;D  I mention this because it's effectively never that I come across a Commander kept to such a high standard.   From new, the  plane belonged to Hills Bros Coffee prior to the current Montana based orporate owner.   The current owner is a knowledgeable flight department with 39 years of Commander fleet operating experience.

This plane is amazing, fast, quiet and ready to go.

Will they take a 680V as a trade?  :D

Is the owner done with Commanders now? I know they sold the other 840 a while back.

Commanders with that sort of pedigree are getting harder and harder to find!

Yes, company sold awhile back and first went the Falcons, the Corsair is gone, and this is the last Commander - the last plane the owner would sell. I think they are maintaining a partnership on a light jet.  It's the life cycle of a corporate flight department run by some real plane enthusiasts.

Ah!  Wish we knew you were stopping by PHL!   We were most likely in the hangar at Atlantic, would have loved to have met you.
Next time!

Yes! Sorry I didn't reach out but it was a last minute deal and it didn't occur to me you are based at Atlantic.  I left $290 there twice just to park for a few hours.  :o What a GA killer they are!

Funny I was able to say hello to your father and Andy as they pulled on the ramp.  I hadn't planned to even be at the airport but wanted to see the plane off.  That was fun.

Your 980 looks good.  They should put the pre-select back in there and you should be flying that plane!

Doesn't Atlantic have a deal where they waive the fee if you paid it already in the same day at any Atlantic facility? Or am I thinking of Landmark?

I generally try to avoid the big FBO chains (with the exception of Million Air).

Signature being the absolute worst. The whole FBO thing really needs a complete overhaul. Only in aviation can you have a system where they can charge you whatever they want, after the fact - and there's no way of knowing beforehand.

Some of the midsize FBOs are good.  Cutter at PHX is good and if you are going into Vegas, The convenience of Atlantic is hard to beat!  Need CAA to help a little with fuel cost.

You can walk to your hotel and they wave the $260 fee if you buy 90gallons.  They still hit you with a $150 for something idiotic.

For me the convenience is worth it.

Signature I avoid like the plague!

Always done Henderson when going to LV, but dying to try Atlantic and just be able to step out on the strip! Soon! I personally have alway had pretty decent experiences with Atlantic. On the pricy side sometimes, but never gauging. Can't say the same about Signature.
