900/1000 Prices-- really?
« on: June 02, 2019, 01:05:48 pm »
I have to admit I was sort of shocked to see this airplane for $799k:

Sure, it's high time and been all over the planet, but still... a reasonable -10 900 for under $1 million? Is there a story associated with it, or is the market declining on 900/1000s?

Saw it, too. Especially since the Nolan plane is almost there in the same price bracket... This 900 has pretty much all I'd ever want.

The big issue with the 900 is the useful load, unless there is an STC to increase the gross weight. With the dash 5s, it couldn't carry that much, with a max gross of only 10,700. Also, I believe it had a service ceiling of only FL330, although I'm not sure about that one.

3696lbs useful load. Assuming LR fuel of 474gal, you'd have 520lbs with fuel. A little light, but doable for 99% of my flying.

Good luck finding one with that low of an empty weight! No soundproofing for you!

That said, it would still probably handle 99% of your flying.

I looked at this 900 a few years back before it was sold to the current owners... and again earlier this summer in Fla.

It needs both front windshields replaced 110K?? along with some minor items.  I think the two guys that own it currently...  thought it would give them "jet" performance and they have figured out they need a CJ, EM300 or the like to do the missions they need done.

As for the useful load... I think it is a little more than those numbers, but I do not remember exactly what they were.

The big difference in engine hours got my attention as well.. so one near TBO the other close to hots. Not sure where the gear OH is and props are a couple years from OH as well.

I decided to pass on it so never made an offer, but you should be able to get it for less than the asking I would think.

I wonder if airplanes coming out of Venezuela as it becomes impossible to operate down there are driving the price down? I see Eagle Creek has a nice looking, low time 900 for sale now as well from Venezuela.

How was the service center down there in Caracas? Are they still in business?

I do not think that the "YV" aircraft have anything to do with the current pricing as just one aircraft would not dictate the values of the fleet available.

Mostly, I think it is just where these aircraft are in their life cycles, TBO's HOTS and all the time life needs of the breed.

The service center is still showing up on TC's web site but I think operations would be null considering the state of the economy and embargos on USA imports there,

I guess I meant that I feel like I am seeing more YV aircraft on the market than usual, but it just might be me.

Nothing good is going on in VZ. But if you’re on the side of those controlling things down there, then you might get to keep your plane.  On the other hand, I’d rather see them sell than keep wrecking them as seems to be the trend lately.

I would imagine if you haven't got your airplane out of VZ by now, it's not happening (or you don't need to).
