1956 680
« on: October 17, 2016, 04:22:21 pm »
Hi guys, long time no post- but I've got a question- there's an ad on barnstormers for a 1956 680- needs some work. Sounds good, but what model might it be? I see 680 super, or E or F- I have an email into the guy- hopefully I'll know more soon.

Also, I think we've talked about this MR. RPM ship here correct?

Ex-survey ship. Doesn't say how many hours airframe has got on it, but my guess is it'll be a little higher. Could be a good ship for the right buyer.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

1956 would be a plain old 680, known in the day as a "Super." However, it could have been converted to a 680E (or maybe an F?) at some point-- I've seen a straight 680 with a tag on it which said it was converted to a 680E by the factory.

Thank you both- I saw a 20k figure to convert the camera ship back to a passenger ship- and Don, thank you, I was thinking that it was a super. N68113 is the super, the gentleman sent me a couple youtube links to her.

Damn, He's already selling it?  I was just talking to him a few months ago about getting on here with us.  Hope it finds a good home.

I noticed that- here's his message to me about it:

At the moment what it needs is a seal behind the supercharger on the right engine that has to be replaced due to loss of manifold pressure and oil leak is and that is flyable and just needs basic feel system needs to be gone through and it needs a good going over but all in all does the beautifully flying airplane call me.

No idea on a cost, but I'm looking to see if I can get things to align one way or another on one.

I'll probably talk with him this weekend- I've been going through the youtube links he has on the plane- Looks like he bought it after it had been sitting for 3 years- looks like he's owned it a year based on videos. I've asked for panel pics as ADS-B is right around the corner and I need to figure that in.

Keep in mind that fixing that gasket on the supercharger will require pulling the engine.  So it is no small job.
