SRL on the retrofit Dash 10's?

I believe he is talking about the value you see when you press the delta p/p switch on the overhead panel.

When I was talking to my brother about this, he mentioned that he could fix the temp split real quick-- just turn up the compensation on the low side, and no more temp split!

I was advised to record the temperatures with the SRLs off, and with the delta p/p switch held. I haven't had a trip in a few weeks to do this, and I don't really want to do a test flight up to altitude just for this purpose.

You should really check the temp compensation circuit before you spend a pile of money on diagnosing your srls.  Does the temp differential still happen if you override the circuit on the overhead panel?  You should also find the value of the original compensation resistors and compare them to the current value.

Resistors go bad over time.  Check the resistor with an ohm meter and compare it to the value published in the maintenance records.

Why wait until you fly the plane?  Just start them up and press the switch on the ground.

They match up quite nicely until you get up to about FL200 or so. I'm not sure what I would learn by pressing the switch on the ground.

To check the temp compensator you would press the temp switch on overhead. By doing that you are taking the temp compensator off line.

If there is no change then you know the temp compensator is not working.

Yes.  But the late model engines were likely already equipped with the pinion and few select parts required for the higher torque of the 1000.  I think it's 820 vs your 730HP but I may be off a few HP. 

Bruce, did those conversion include the bigger gear box and increase to 1000hp?

I might be about to find out, as I have a bit of a temp split which I think is SRL related. Apparently issues with it can either be related to the box itself or a sensor, and there are ways to diagnose which it is.

Until you have to replace and/or repair one.
