Super One or Super Dave conversion.
« on: December 24, 2016, 04:22:50 pm »
Anyone have much info on this conversion? I know it's when they mated a -6 compression stage to a -1 turbine stage and hung them on the short wings. According to hearsay, meant the 680/681's could keep up with Jetprops at 280kts.

I know of only 2 681's with this conversion, one in Canada and one in Colombia.

Is his STC still offered?

Adam,

The Super Dave is named for Dave Corwin I believe, one of the absolute most knowledgeable 331 professionals on the planet.  You will find him at Turbine Standard in Toledo or Lauderdale. I'm not sure if he has the STC.  More likely National Flight does. A phone call to Mike in Toledo will probably get you a quick answer.

Just for posterity:

Super One is when they mate a -2 compressor section to a -1 hot section.
Super Dave is when they mate a -6 compressor section to a -1 hot section.

I don't know, 250 knots TAS at FL210 is about what a dash 5 690 does.

Isn't that the one that's been for sale for a while? Like, years and years?

Also, what are the hot section and overhaul intervals on that engine?
