Too bad they are too small for my bird :-)

You can't win an argument with an ignorant person,  they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Did N90540 ever make it back to resale after its most recent purchase?

Wow!  Tempting.  Both of my engines are about ready for an overhaul... hmm

Ed, I think you would need to do a lot more than change engines if you got those. :-)

Well, I am sure you are right, but it is not an issue anyway, Glenn.  I could not afford them... laughing...

I may get two (count 'em, TWO) overhauls at my next Annual (due in December) by the guys up at GPH.  I should start negotiating with them when we meet in September!  ;-))

I feel for you Badger. Always ends up being more than one wants. Ended up being about $120K on the Aerostar for both, and that was when the actual engines only cost $24K/each. It's all the little stuff that adds up endlessly. Think it was just $7K in hoses on the Aerostar... But if you can swing the engines and do some of the mounting and rigging etc yourself, then it can get cheaper.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

I wish I could help them some, Adam.  I would certainly learn a lot out of that experience...and would enjoy it.  Unfortunately, these guys are my "commander guys" and they are in Missouri and I am in Texas.  When I fly the 500B up there for Annuals, etc, I do try to hang around a bit and learn a few things from Darryl Frink and Central Air, but, eventually, I have to find my way back home.  Not sure their shop rules would allow me to do any of the work anyway...but, still, I would love to watch the entire project.  I'd have to rent a house or check into that classy old hotel that Glenn has set up for us, I guess...  ;-)

By the way, Adam, did you see my April post (in Avionics) about me running into a friend of yours (English gentleman, named Mark) when I was stuck in Meridian?  Very interesting guy.  I certainly enjoyed my conversations with him while my commander was being repaired.  Seems like he KNOWS how to fly to fun places and enjoy life!  What a great example he is!

Mark - yes, he owns an RV-4, right? If it's the guy I think it is, he used to work for Tesla at HHR. Flew that thing back to the UK! Then brought it back when he got a job on NorCal. Interesting guy.

Yes!  Same guy.   I love his attitude about flying.  :-)
