One more thought. I am in the same boat as you! Young low time pilot (400TT) with IR. I am starting research a few years ahead of my next upgrade. I fly a bonanza and really love it! But as my instrument flying expands I find my self less comfortable in a single engine with my family (wife). But we are trying to start a family so when the kids get here I will be moving up.
Any way..... Keep in mind that the commander with the big wing and tall tail will need a large hangar. They are tough to find on the road and more expensive at the home dome.
Go sit in one and the cabin will sell you. The speed loss over the other twins equates to minutes over the trip. But the comfort is not even compare able for long family trips.
