I don't have that much experience with the Meggitt-- just a few flights. However, I would say it is no better than the mechanical systems that the airplanes came with from new, and might be worse from a maintainability standpoint. So either mechanical or Meggitt, I would replace it with a Garman PFD.

An operator I helped had a Conquest with Maggit glass. They sold the plane 5 years ago and they were already finding the Meggit units a nightmare due to lack of support. Multiple failures  over a 1.5 year period, and exchange units were extremely expensive and equally unreliable.

I can only imagine things are even worse now. I would suggest you budget for an upgrade at the time of purchase of any aircraft equipped with these units

I'm actually surprised at the low valuations of the 840's with -5's. Multiple for sale for sib-$500K. That's a lot of plane for the money. Sure, they won't do 300kts, but what's a mere 30kts amongst friends?  ;)

I'd have to know all the asking prices. Given my great luck with a former Jim Lindsey airplane, without knowing, I would say N730MV... but I have heard that they don't really want to sell it and the asking price reflects that. I don't know what the price is, though.

Also, I have to say I really prefer the Sundstrand, although if the Enviro is working correctly, it's probably okay.

But at the right price, any of them (except for the Colombian one) would be fine.

We're working that price down if anyone is looking for a 1000.  I think we have a replacement picked out.  Would be the end of an era for my family... but we also thought that when 700PC went to you!

Did you look into making N730MV RVSM?

Your old 980 has certainly been a fantastic airplane!

We did look at RVSM and were on the tipping point to pull the trigger, but held off since we were only flying about 120hrs a year.  Really would only like it for topping the weather since I think the fuel savings alone wouldn't justify the cost.  She's a strong bird up in the high 20's and having been in the low 30's only a couple times she ran remarkably strong up there too.

Definitely miss the old 980, but glad she's in good hands!
