Met the new owner of N51DM this week.  Really nice gentleman.  Was surprised, he hitched a ride with us in the 980 to Winner Aviation, yet bought the plane at Eagle Creek.
He tells me he's picking up a Phenom from Eagle Creek sometime soon (Bruce are you familiar with him)?  Helluva customer- 1000 and Phenom within a year!

Anyway, gorgeous plane...

The NOAA people do work that airplane. I love that paint job-- mine is going to be sort of similar.

Why do they need a 1000 when they stay low most of the time and have a huge belly port? Makes no sense to me. An old 690 with slippers would do nicely.
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

Great question, maybe because they get all our wonderful tax dollars to splurge for the 1000!

Adam, they don't just do that low altitude stuff. I've seen them do some really long legs as well.

The 1000 is great because it can do it all!

Really, the 1000 (especially the 695B) is one of the best turboprops ever made.

I am sorta thinking that they are about to replace the Commander with a new custom built King Air 350CER.  Not to mention the new Gulfstream G550 they just ordered.

I think that gives them two or three of the King Airs and at least two of the "G" series Gulfstreams

That should bring the "comfort" level up a tad...

I still like the new paint on all the equipment.

Probably inevitable, although you never know. Montana Highway Department still has their 680V (bought new!), so who knows...

Jason - I wouldn’t post re: other’s misfortune but it’s online elsewhere and i think it’s such a testament to the plane that, well, it’s just amazing!

Just like the placard on the yokes used to say; Commander: “Tough Bird!”

They flew around the pattern like that? Amazing!
