Thanks Bruce- yes I don't mean to glamorize someone else's misfortune.  Just amazed/happy that the airplane got everyone back to ground safely.

I would think it would be going for close to the top of the market. G950 (with RVSM!), low engine times, decent paint and interior... hard to fault in any way.

The question is, what is the top of the market?

Agreed, high pedigree on that bird.  Just curious where top of the line is giving everything going on in the world.
Stay safe everyone.

I'm going to guess $1.8?

Looks like maybe that was the prototype for the G950?

I think your correct Don about it being the platform for the STC for the G950. As for the value... $1.8 would be a good asking in 2019 but for 2020 I am pretty sure the pricing will be considerably less across all Commander models.

The down side of this G950 is that it has the older first generation processors (2016 - 2017) and they are much slower than the newest versions from Garmin and very noticeably so. But like most all things what you never had you often do not miss.

Depending on how motivated the seller is... and the past three quarters of 1000 sales this one might get $1.2 to $1.3 is my guess. The one thing that would make it command anything more would be if it was a "B" model.

It does however, seem to be one of the better 1000's for sure.

We're gonna see a serious drops in prices across board, my guess. I'm not saying this gleefully, just realistically. We all remember what Commanders cost in 2010-2012 - it's most likely gonna go back to that.

It's interesting, I'm not sure if we are going to see big price drops. I mean sure, anyone who has to sell today is going to see a big price drop, but 3 months from now, I'm much less confident in making a prediction.

I've heard predictions that more people will want to travel by private aircraft versus the airlines, for one thing.

And, Commanders tend to be sold to people who are going to use them for a specific task, not just flying people from A to B. Fires still have to be fought, places to be mapped, supplies brought to remote locations, etc. From what I can see, Commander prices have generally been pretty stable for a long time, and I don't really see that changing much.

I was certain that would be the case after 9/11. I was wrong.

People may hate the idea of LaGuardia more than they did three months ago, but I don't see more than a very small handful going from "not a pilot" to "twin engine cabin class" just because of this.

I guess I wasn't clear. I didn't mean that large numbers of people would suddenly go out and learn to fly and buy Commanders as a result of Covid.  Instead, I was talking about people at the margins who can afford private aircraft (generally not owner-flown) but choose instead to travel on the airlines, and people who own private aircraft today and are feeling less wealthy than they did in February.

If those people, on the margin, either start flying privately or continue to do so, there won't be a big drop in the values of existing aircraft inventory.

Does that make sense?

As I recall, after 9/11 there was not a big drop in the prices of business aircraft, in fact there was much less of a drop (if any) than an observer might have expected if their sole predictive metric was business conditions. I would argue that this will be the same.

Twin Commander posted a beautiful air-to-air shot of a 1000 on Facebook, and I commented that if they were still making them, they wouldn't be selling many PC-12s. I still believe that.

I understand it would be gargantuan task to put back into production, but a carbon fibre, lighter 1000-model with all the mod cons would be a huge thing. So, let's just for a moment dream about what such a plane would have:

1. 600gal tanks (NY-LA direct possible westbound in winter)
2. Glass panel
3. Heated deice leading edges
4. 8psi diff
5. FL410 possible
6. Bigger winglets for even better fuel economy
7. Fully enclosed potty
8. Center console smaller for easier access to pilots seats

Anything else?

I actually think the 695B with modern avionics is about perfect, as it is!
