I also don't really understand the model. What do the spammers get from spamming this forum? It's not like they're even trying to sell anything.

I've removed the latest ones now, but it's Glenn's website and he who sets the entry barriers and questions. There used to be 2 questions only Commander people would know, but I've noticed that Glenn now has more generic questions in place if you want to register. But perhaps is it time to go back to the Commander specific questions? But that also risks shutting out some genuine interested people if it gets virtually impossible to answer them correctly. One thing is for sure, going back to manually approving each one is a very time consuming prospect, as every DNS, email has to be searched on the internet to see if it's flagged. I'm a working cinematographer, often traveling and often in places where I don't have good access to internet (writing this as we speak from the DFW airport over a bad connection), I can't always dedicate the 10-20min/day this takes. All things considering, this is the less painful way to do it, but I will talk to Glenn and see if we can't add at least one Commander-specific question.

Tnx for all your efforts Adam.  Also tnx for thinking of us non-pilots, not that I wouldn't love to be one.

Yeah, it's out of control right now. I have asked Glenn to add more barriers again asap. Just spent 30mins cleaning up. Sick of it.

Same here... would be happy to assist in keeping the rubbish off the site as it is taking the value of the site away.

I spoke to Glenn over weekend. He's going to change login, but until he does, we're at the mercy. Today was another 10 page spam attack and I need to jump on a plane again, so I've asked Glenn to help. So far, I've not been able to find a way to delete ALL posts by banned user, so even though the user is banned, you have to manullay go in and delete every post they left behind. This is the time eater.

Glenn - time to make more people moderators? This can't go on.

Well, I'm happy to help out in any way I can. Compared to other boards I'm on, this sort of moderation is pretty easy (much easier than dealing with bad behavior by actual users!).

I'm totally open to making whomever wants to help out a moderator.  I have set the forum at the moment to admin approval so that spammers can't post anything else.  This makes our other problem surface again so working on solution to that.

Adam,  I'm sorry but got to hotel and realized I had no power cable for my computer and the battery was DOA.

Thanks for the hard work,

Glenn
