Honeywell getting serious about GA TPE's again?
« on: August 13, 2017, 08:26:34 pm »
Rumor I heard on another board is that Honeywell is losing all its commuter aircraft sales to the regional jets these days, so are re-tooling to bring back production and development to the GA TPE series, the sub 12 series. Would be great news if they did, they seemed to have been sleeping at the wheel very comfortably for the last 20 years. All they need to do is introduce a slightly improved -10 or -12, paint some fancy logos on it, some cool colors, and show it at Oshkosh, and things would instantly feel a lot better.

I also heard Texas Turbines are putting a -14 on a PC12 and certifying it. Could be a good performer - they killed it with their Caravan conversion.

Anyone else heard anything?
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.

As I understand it, the main market for new 331s in recent years has been the MQ-9 Reaper. It uses the -10.

I see that the Kestrel is also supposed to use the -10, but I don't know how realistic that is.
