I agree with Glenn, as well.  I'd stay away from that particular 560.  Sorry the 500B is gone.  I love my 500B.  I am sure that another one will pop up before too long.

Glenn, Adam, Ed, Budda, thanks for your input and willingness to provide feedback and advice. I guess I have to keep looking and hopefully it would end in success.

Budda,
my ideal bird is the 500B with a pilot door installed. Pound for pound it is better for my purposes than the 500S. I didn't see a 500S listed at Flightways in the piston ME section. Whats the tail number?

Got in touch with Doug, he is asking $170K for it. It is a good looking aircraft. Doesn't appear to have been flown recently (within the last 6 months to a year). I could be wrong.

If I'm wrong with the price I do apologize

However these guys maintained the aircraft to the T

And owned the airplane for quite some time.  Mine was owned by this owner for 15 plus years.

However give him an offer.  It will be worth it

Price for the 500S will include inspections to bring it to airworthy conditions. I believe it hasn't flown for a bit.

Here comes the 560F on eBay again.

Get it to Peoria and have the guys look at it so you know what it will take to make it right.  It looks cool as hell from 100' but I smell project.

Regarding you getting outbid on the 680FLp, I'll buy you a beverage anytime.  That was a tough one but really up to the owner in the end period.  I hate those deals where someone is disappointed! :-[

BUT, the great news is that the 680FLp went to a pilot mechanic who took his wife for their first date in it. Now that he has a lot of money and time in it, and maybe some romance out of it, I'm sure he'd sell it.   And it will probably be safe relative to it's former condition.  Would you like to go check it out and fly it??  And you still get the beverages of your choice!  :)

 ;) I would prefer N121SP over N401MG any day. ;D That's a really pristine 500B, is that yours?

It really sucked that I couldn't even get her up for a spin and then to see it was let go for 90K.

I'll keep your offer in mind.

Can anyone tell me what other Lycs are STCd for the 560F besides the original geared ones? (I know the 560F and the 680F are pretty much the same beast minus the supercharging differences on the engines used.)
But can the Merlyn upgrade with 550s work for the 560F?

I'm playing around with the assumption I'm working with a good fuselage and ditching the 720s.

Yea, I know I must sound hopelessly lost in love with these birds.

I don't think anything else is STC'd for the 560F. I'm pretty sure they're not, actually.

Adam thanks for that.
Does anyone know the performance numbers for the 560F with the IO 720 BIBs? Or where I can locate them?
Which wing spar ADs/ SBs affect the 560F?
If I needed some initial piston twin commander hands on training (if I'm successful in purchase), is there any recommendation in the state of Florida whether it's individual instructor, or institution based?

Update:

The 560F has been sold for 100K and it wasn't me. 8)

So I guess the new owner will finally find out if it's a good buy or it will reappear for sale or make it to the graveyard due to lack of funds to correct any issues.
