How fast have you been in your Twin Commander?!
« on: November 22, 2017, 10:07:01 pm »
A couple of weeks back I hit a new personal groundspeed record in the Twin Commander (and any other aircraft for that matter!). This kicked off a discussion with the other TC pilots I know over here about the fastest speeds they've achieved. Needless to say, with only a year under my belt, I was thoroughly beaten by the others!

So, I thought it might be fun to open it up to the group and see who has been the fastest! I'll kick it off with 407kts (pic of hitting the big 400 attached!).

Bonus points for whoever also has the fastest GS in any other type too...  ;)

I've seen 400 in the 980 a few times. The last time, I didn't get a picture-- but I did get one on the way home!

Haha, yup that's always the downside - when you have to head back the other way!

Good groundspeed pics include the VSI ;)

I came up just short of 400mph (not knots) in my 340 once.

Just know that while you guys are breaking those records the rest of us are flying the other way.  Just went to Missouri the other week and had a 40 knot headwind all the way to destination and figured I'd have a great time coming home.  Only to find out 3 days later the wind had shifted to a direct cross wind and I had a 10 knot headwind home.

But hey, I get more flying in than you guys do :-)

You can't win an argument with an ignorant person,  they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

On a trip I just did non stop Los Angeles ( KCMA) to Des Moines 3.9hrs highest GS 406kts.

Tailwind averaged around 50kts until the last hour when it picked up to over 100kts.  Gotta love the combination of speed and long range fuel!

Hauling a**, Steve!
Slumming it in the turboprop world - so you don't have to.
