MLG V Seal Replacement Question - AC560
« on: January 03, 2018, 01:28:26 pm »
Question for the forum. This is specific to the MLG used on the 520 & 560 series commander (later models use a different seal setup).

After fabricating some static gear leg stands in addition to the jack stands we have the main landing gear (MLG) off the aircraft for inspection cleaning, painting, and replacement of the AN 6225B38 V Ring Seals. Using a spanner wrench, I can remove the *21018 nut at the bottom of the strut which provides access to the V rings, but need to determine the best way to separate the chrome strut from the cylinder to remove the seals.

BTW- before you say it.  I have spoken with Morris, other mechanics, and Twin Commander. The service procedure has alluded all. Before I started disassembling more of the strut, I wanted to first check with others.

Pictures attached. Looking forward to feedback.

Thanks,
