HOW MANY COMMANDERS LEFT
« on: February 05, 2018, 05:30:14 pm »
Just happened to see this in the Feb Twin & Turbine.

I wonder if there are really that many left.

That's supposed to be actual subscribers who have responded listed by aircraft, not just number flying.

Seems like a reasonable number to me.
500B, B200

Seems high to me, unless they have a lot of international subscribers. Remember, it's in their interest to inflate those numbers.

I came up with about 150 840/980?s the other day so they are close. The majority of some models are overseas.  If only we could find the stash of CIA planes.  Only Barry Collman really knows.  ;)

Bruce-
There is no way all the drug smugglers can be found?  No CNs, gov't surplus?
Anyway we can do some investigating?

Sadly there are piles of them sitting on the sides of taxiways all over central and South America.  Iran and Iraq also have some.  But getting them out of government limbo is all but impossible let alone the work required to resurrect them.  It has always been maddening to see.  There are a bunch of planes that disappeared under a suspicious Memphis address in the name of Andy Andrews.  Someone could tell that story but they might then disappear ... :(

Doesn't Iran still fly theirs, at least some of them?

If you look on the web, there are some fairly recent pictures of the Iranian 690s flying around. They may have parted some of them out, but at least some of them are still going.
