I have a super tow II and my neighbor pulls his caravan with a super tow III. They are $4000-5000 new.

A new Lektro is $30k now. I want one but can't find used

The little one has the GPU option using the motive batteries, so up to 300 amps. Lektro offers a 1000 amp version, which is what you would want for starting, but it was quite a bit more expensive.

The big one didn't come with any GPU option-- it could have, but that box wasn't ticked on the order form when it was new.

I'm still very happy with the little Lektro. I haven't needed to do anything to it in my ownership so far. I do use the GPU option fairly often for cleaning the cabin, and once in a while before I go flying to load flightplans-- although since my airplane is on a charger all the time, I don't mind using the batteries for that sort of thing as well.

Also, when I clear Customs, I can bring the Lektro down to the Customs ramp and tug the airplane back to the hangar, so I don't need to do another start.

I could buy a used year 2000 Lektro with only 59 hours on it at my airport, it needs all new batteries which run about 3k total i am told. I think they want around 17K or so for this Lektro. I have decided to buy and try the T2V2 as it will take up less space and close to half the price of the used Lektro.  Plus i can move the planes while looking on the wing or tail for clearances.

$17k isn't a great deal, anyway. A brand new one is just under $20k, so no point in paying that much for a used one.

Do you ever have occasion to tow your airplane a longer distance than just in and out of the hangar? That is where the Lektro is nice. This afternoon, I tugged my airplane down to my hangar from the customs ramp, for instance.

Hello don,
we are in kind of in a transition point right now.  Currently, we are in a community hanger at the airport and they pull the plane out for us which is kind of nice in a way. However, with all the new line people coming and going we are a bit worried about hangar rash and schedule flexibility as we can't even have a copy of the key for the hangar from the FBO and just want our own corporate hanger.  I know this is a Tug thread, but i have included some photos of a hangar that we are closing on in 3 to 4 weeks.  It has a small office and bathroom also which is pretty nice. The photos here show us testing out the hangar with the 2 commanders, as they do fit in, not a ton of room in between them as you can see, but enough to walk inbetween them. My business partner is eyeing up the space around the edges of the commanders as there is plenty of room to stack old cars around the perimeter of the hangar and underneath the commanders, so the room i am sure will get used up when done.  It will be nice to have heat also in the frozen tundra up here also for the 7 months of winter we get here. Sorry about the sideways photos, i forgot to rotate them to view correctly.

Tug wise, though, maybe i could have purchased the Lektro for 12K or 15K but i can't imagine much less as they mentioned Lektro themselves would come up and pick the unit up for 15K on the spot- its a larger one i think with battery hook up also- i didn't have the exact model number though, but it was in good shape except for needing batteries as it has sat for a few years.
I pulled the trigger on the remote control T2V2 already, so hopefully i don't regret it, and that company said if i was unhappy with it, they would take it back but i would have to pay for shipping each way. If i needed to tow the aircraft over to the FBO or anywhere else from our newly purchased hanger, the FBO would be glad to do that for us. I will report back once we have the unit and i get a few pulls from it, i am curious though in the middle of January with an inch of snow on the ramp if the unit will pull it out, they said it would without the spikes, but January is a long ways away (fortunately or unfortunately i guess in how you look at it)

Hangar looks great! What are the dimensions?

I posted about my hangar a while back... mine is 60x83, with a nice large door. I have a small office in one corner and a bathroom and sink area in the other. It does start to fill in with cars and motorcycles and stuff, though!

That's pretty good with the two Commanders in there!

I just have the Commander and my Citabria, plus some cars... I really like that I don't have to move either one to get the other one out. When I was in a common hangar, I was usually in the front but sometimes would come out for a trip and find out that I had to move something else, then hook up the Commander and move it... what a pain!

Beautiful hangar and big.

I have a 60x60 with a 60ft door.  My 980 fits in there perfectly.  Not sure if I could put any other aircraft in there, maybe a little tail dragger.

Once I got out of a communal hangar I never looked back. The communal has to much activity.  The door was always open so the plane got dirty and I did not like it getting moved around all the time.

Now it looks perfect every time I open the door.

Having your own hangar is second only to having your own plane, it is that nice to have.
